Even being Scottish I’ve grown up loving the American dream (us Celts and Americans have a long and close bond), From John Wayne cowboy films to Saving Private Ryan, Americana is in my culture as much as Haggis and the kilt! I also adore the American countryside, my favorite being the Bay area of California. Squaw Valley, Alpine meadows and Yosemite Park are the most incredibly beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Scotland has some impressive mountains but not a patch on the splendor of California.

I’ve seen the majestic bald eagle flying free and I can feel why it is the symbol for patriotic America, it’s beautiful but with lethal talons to protect itself, which sums up the USA perfectly! The Stars and Stripes is also one of the most perfect, simple and iconic graphic designs of all time, inspiration for artists like Hopper, Warhol and Jasper Johns.
